Picard Park
The plans to move forward this summer/early fall to complete another phase of Picard Park are in progress. We expect to see some construction of some of the following near the end of August:
- Walkway running east/west joining the playground with neighbourhood walkway to the west
- Full-sized basketball court with smaller cross-court hoop for children
- A gazebo and some trees for playground area
- Additional soccer fields.
Please ensure your family is mindful of the construction in this area and thank you for your patience as we make these additions to our park.
Meadowlands/Breckenridge
The intent of our latest survey was to gather feedback from our community members as to what they would like to see done with these park areas requiring development. Not surprisingly due to the demographics of that area, there was a pretty equal distribution of votes for more passive elements to the park (landscaping, picnic areas, gazebos) with active/play elements (trails, playgrounds, spray park). The results of our survey will be presented at the AGM in September. You can also download a copy (Survey Results June 2008). Our next steps are to create a concept plan for the area based on the identified priorities and create a fundraising plan for its various phases. We hope to see baseline development in 2009 and it is possible to see some construction of priorities in 2010.
Volunteers
We encourage our community members to volunteer at our upcoming casino on November 20th and 21st to help raise funds for park development efforts. We also look forward to any assistance/ideas for other fundraising ideas. The Parks Committee is always looking for more members as well. Please feel free to contact Brandy Luedemann at 780-454-7267 or bluedema@hotmail.com with any questions or comments.
